Oprah sat down with experts in 2024 for a crash course in demystifying AI in her podcast segment: “AI and the Future of Us”… I have been talking about this subject since 2010 when I started writing and collecting qualitative data for my book: Meeting People: It’s Not A Game – Your Path to Genuine Connections Thru Bempathy®. I even did my own series on KPFT 90.1 Houston radio with a similar title. This is why I created the communication/relational concept Bempathy®, which is more than a communication tool; it is a relational philosophy. Empathy needs a ‘B’— The Voice Of Reason.
The rise and easy access to companion apps, chatbots, and digital devices is like a tidal wave washing over most Americans and flooding globally — and we all need to be cautious. These devices and platforms were deliberately engineered to get people addicted even to extremes of murder, suicide and fraud. The driving force behind it all? Money and power. But who cares about the reason — we all need to be educated, just like we educate ourselves about drugs and medication. Don’t you want to know what the side effects are?
Side effects are the effects of a drug that you don’t want to happen. In other words, the drug focuses on helping in a specific way but will also affect other areas. Most of the time these side effects work on our bodies in a negative way.
We need to consider the internet and digital devices as a “new type” of drug. How are we going to handle, use, and cope with it? Bempathy® is the answer. Empathy alone can create confirmation bias, all-or-nothing thinking, and worse, in and out groups. The biggest example is what is happening in politics. The groups are getting further and further from the middle, making it more difficult to compromise or hear people in the out group.
Let’s work together and use Bempathy® (Banter + Empathy with a win/win mindset). Without chit-chat the world will continue to divide. Bempathy® is more than just a combination of banter and empathy. It is “The Voice of Reason” in a society that needs a voice of reason. Bempathize®.

AI is just that — ‘Artificial’ and somewhat ‘Intelligent.’ It generates and is learning on its own. Bempathize with yourself and others to see what is real and what is not. Step back and see the big picture!
