“Everbody turn to the Barbie next to you and tell her how much you love her. Compliment her.”

Moral 4: Being considerate to others makes for a receptive world

In Barbieland, the Barbies were kind and polite to each other, but they often treated the Ken’s as mere accessories. However, when Barbie entered the real world, the situation flipped. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if women complimented each other the same way they did in Barbieland? Being considerate to others makes for a receptive world. Even better, what if everyone, regardless of gender or age, showed such consideration to each other? Barbie prompts us to ponder the separation of roles between men and women, urging us to contemplate the ideal recipe for utopia.

The movie underscores the importance of balancing logic and emotions. It also sends a message that being considerate to others makes for a receptive world. The Barbies take pride in their work without feeling the need to apologize. Ultimately, their ability to communicate and uplift each other becomes their saving grace. Barbie reminds us that true liberation will only come when the values we hold as women are seamlessly integrated into the spaces we collectively create. It’s not just about being included in men’s spaces; these spaces should be equally shared by all.

Bempathy® Tip: Communicating commonality gets people to feel more connected, therefore encourages people to work together at least where there is commonality.
