MORAL 6: Keep Your Power And Believe in Yourself.

Moral 6: Keep your power and believe in yourself

The movie tells the story of Barbie’s journey from the ‘known’ to the ‘unknown,’ where she learns about life along the way.  She learns to keep your power and believe in yourself because “knowledge is power”! This is similar to the way people progress in life, from childhood to adulthood. Through Barbie’s travels, she continues to acquire knowledge, learning more about the world, people, and the various roles individuals play. Not everyone is a Barbie or a Ken; roles vary depending on who you are and where you are.

When people gain knowledge, it can sometimes intimidate those who don’t possess it, as it did with the ‘men on the board of Mattel.’ These scared men reacted defensively because they felt threatened, believing their power was being taken away from them. In reality, it was merely being ‘shared.’ Consequently, the men attempted to persuade her to return to her Barbie box.

The movie serves as a reminder that society often attempts to confine powerful women with labels, shame, legal controls, and more, and that we should never willingly step into that box. This applies to men as well. We should practice “Bempathy®,” which involves bantering with empathy, creating the ability to find compassion and understanding for all humans.  Knowledge is power! Keep your power and believe in yourself!

Bempathy® Tip: Control is power and power is control.  Gain control over your environment by not letting others views put you in a box.
